Today we said good-bye to our friend Scott and watched him board a plane for America. Kind of a strange sensation to know someone who is heading back home while we are exactly 1/4 of the way through our journey and heading the opposite direction.

The nearly three weeks he spent with us was punctuated with humor, thrills, and great comraderie. We can't tell you how much it means to us that he was willing to spend a lot of time and money to join us for a while on our adventure. We will miss him and look forward to seeing him at the airport when we arrive back in the States next October (we are flying into Orlando, Florida and he is picking us up at the airport).

Some of the fun things we did while he was here included:

  1. Abseiling, Flying Fox, Blackwater Rafting in the caves of Waitomo.
  2. Moonlight walk on the beach in New Plymouth sipping a glass of Port wine.
  3. Extended stay occupants at caravan parks (Wanganui)
  4. FInding the only Tequilaria in all of New Zealand in Wellington and tasting tequila before our New Year's evening began.
  5. Not one, but two bottles of Patron Silver.
  6. Nine bottles of Scaldis!!!!!!!!!
  7. Crossing the Cook Strait in gale force winds and most of the passengers getting sick (none of us thank you).
  8. A fantastic drive on Queen Charlotte Road.
  9. Kiwi Burn (sort of)
  10. Harrington Beer
  11. "Four Feet" at the Club Waimea in Richmond
  12. Jazz in Nelson
  13. Wine tasting in Renwick (a very special day)
  14. Kayaking in Kaikoura
  15. Sailing in Lyttleton

And finally, today before we took him to the airport, we ended his time the way we started in Auckland. We visited another location of the Belgian Beer Cafe and drank a few tasty strong beers.

Scott, we can't thank you enough for the time we had together and we'll see you on the other side of the world!

Cheers,

Eric & Val
